I have been considering a saddle for a couple seasons. Tried one out last week and immediately was convinced! I ordered a Hawk saddle. It came Friday the 30th. The next day I had it all set up and shooting in the yard. On Monday the 2nd at 4 am the adventure began!

I was heading for a spot deep in on State Land. A spot that requires waders on a dry year. It was a mile plus walk and I underestimated the time it would take to travel and get set badly. I was in the tree at shooting light, but not the hour before that I wanted. I grunted a few times hoping that would be cover for my late arrival. Turned out it was perfect. I thought I was hearing movement behind me, so I repositioned and watched that area for 30 minutes or so. Never seeing anything I went back to watching where I thought I would see deer. No sooner had I turned my back and I hear trotting from behind. He was coming over my left shoulder, being right handed this was perfect. I waited for him to clear, identified him as a shooter, grabbed my bow and knocked my release in one motion. At 3/4 draw he looked directly up at me! 10 seconds later he put his head down and carried on. I finished my draw, blatted him to stop, and released an arrow. He was directly in front of a stump that I had just ranged at 26 yards. I saw it was a perfect hit as the fletching disappeared into his chest. He took a big bound after being hit, paused for a moment, then wheeled for about 30 yards. Stumbled another 10 and dropped dead. The attached picture is the exit. He was quartering away.

I thanked the Lord, then called my son. He and my wife came out for the loooooooong drag back to the truck. I am so blessed that it all came together the way it did. I'm certain I have located a spot not many will go to. I also know that without a saddle I couldn't have done it!IMG_1398.jpgIMG_1409.jpg

Great buck!!! How do you get your wife to drag? Mine won't. :mask:

Congratulations. Great buck and story. It is always nice to see the family involved. Blessings.
