So I just bought my first saddle. The question I have is I own two lineman’s belts from hunter safety system. Can I use one of them as a tree tether, using it the same way u would a tether going through the loop to make the slip knot. The lineman’s belt looks pretty much the same to me as the tether that is sold other than the second carabiner. Of course I will be using the other one as my lineman’s belt.

This is exactly what I do. Have never had a problem. They should be climbing/safety rated rope as far as I know.

Should be fine if its weight rated rope. I did this at first too. Just make sure all your knots are right.

I’m using the lineman’s belt from Tethrd but I cut down a Muddy lifeline that I already had for my tree tether and it works great.

If lines and connecting devices have proper ratings, you are most likely safe. I would still look how others have made their setups or have an experienced person check your setup to be safe. And be comfortable/well versed before entering the woods!

I met with a local member from this site to check his setup (tried it out to make sure i would like it), then built a very similar setup with small tweaks here and there.
