Well this morning was my first saddle hunt. Got in and set in plenty of time. Once I got in I realized I was a little too high and had a branch in what I expected to be my main shooting area. It’s happen plenty of times during hang and hunts with my lone wolf so it wasn’t anything new. What is new is, is how easy I was able to remedy the problem. By being able to lengthen my tether and just lower down if something came into that area, the problem was solved. Didn’t have to try and shoot while doing an air squat or have to get down and reposition the stand. So that was nice. My setup was mostly good but I need to mess with a few things to get them dialed in a little better. One thing is my pack. I want to be able to access it easy but don’t want it in the way if I have to go to the opposing side of the tree. Just gotta Hunt a few more times to get it perfect. Everything else was great. My setup is a modified lone wolf sticks and a ridge runner platform. I shortened my sticks and I put a double step on top of one stick. Mainly expecting to stand on it while I hang my platform. But I ended up hanging my platform about even with my top step and actually spent quite a bit of time with my feet on both just bc of how the deer were moving. I was super happy with the platform. It’s rock solid under side pressure. I spent most of the morning standing on the side of it. I was happy to have it when i finally got a shot. It was on the weak side and I was able to stand up on the platform with my back to the tree and get off a shot. She was down wind and was leaving in a hurry so I didn’t get it on film, oh well. I usually abandon that camera pretty quick . Made a good shot watched and watched her fall. So first saddle hunt first kill. I’ll take it. So all in all I was pretty happy with the saddle after my first hunt. Couple things I have to get used to but will definitely be I’m using it a lot more. I have 10 pre hung sets on the farm I hunt but do a lot of mobile sets every year and also have a lot of public close by that I hunt so I’ve looked at saddle the last couple years but finally but the bullet. So far I’m very glad I did. Here’s some pics, and Thanks for all the help from here!

Congratulations on both first saddle hunt as well as first saddle kill. It truly is a great way to hunt and opens up so many options.

As you do it more you’ll get a better feel for how to setup and find out what little tweaks you need to do to your system.

Haha actually I’ve been all flo green for a long time, Since I started doing my own stuff waaaay back in 05. But that release is legit, when I heard the argument for 2 fingers vs the 3 finger one I had it made sense so I thought I’d try it. I love it. He does put out a ton of great technical archery info though.
