Florida Hunters, talk to me.

Very hilly. No rubber boots really needed, I use hiking boots. Can use cross now, any kind of bow, shotgun, or 22 rimfire.plenty of good trees, would have to say one stick, however we usually stay and the ground and cover a lot of ground, hogs move around a lot.
 
I live next to citrus wma. There are almost no hogs to hunt there. Its the last place I would try to hunt hogs.
Homosassa has some hogs but you have to work hard for them. The area is thick and wet enough in spots for hogs.
Watch for snakes I've seen some big rattlers in there.

As I said before...have to go to the south end of citrus for hogs. I do every year, there are plenty, you just have to know where to go! Also why I said for hogs we stay on the ground and be mobile. The hogs move around too much...have to take the hunt to them....still hunting/stalking.
 
And homosassa has plenty too, however you definitely need rubber boots and be prepared to play in the swamps cause it's mostly that, and be prepared to go deep in the swamps not a few hundred yard from the truck!

Is the area pretty well marked out as for boundaries? I assume you have hunted it so know how it runs. Phone reception okay in the area? Or would I need a GPS to take along. Looks like you can't go to far with out hitting a road.
 
Well marked, lots of forest roads especially in the north part (make it kinda hard to get lost though!) South...not too bad. I get good reception there. Honestly it's layed out pretty well and you could get by with a map and compass if needed though.

I'm not a Florida hunter but I have Florida connections in that area. My folks have a condo in St Pete. I'm planning on visiting for a weekend at the end of March (probably, bought plane ticket but plan may fall through) but interested in pig hunting as well. If you plan something perhaps I'll be able to come down. Heck my folks probably have an extra bedroom at their place but I'd have to run things by them first of course lol. They aren't hunters but they support my peculiarities.
 
public land hogs will be closed by end of first week in Mar throughout this region. So you would need to access to private land or book an outfitter. Someone may chime in with options, I'll be headed south chasing tarpon with a flyrod by then...

Ah that shows how much I've researched hog hunting so far lol. Always next year I suppose. How's the spiny lobster and lionfish population in that area? That's what I was really hoping to go after during my march trip. Or are they an Atlantic coast thing? Lots to figure out, and perhaps not in someone else's thread actually. my St Pete area hogs interest/offer stands for the future though.

Not sure. Supposed to be starting a 40x60 garage build with a full loft in February, so kinda depends on work schedule, will know more on timing once the permit is cleared. If it was closer to me would be a definite yes at least to meet all of you.

I thought you were in central Fl? Lake George is in the south western end of Volusia county.
