Hey yall been hunting for years and the military keeps me moving so I figure the saddle is going to be the best way for me to be able to adapt. I haven't purchased anything yet and will take any advice you can give.

Welcome from Louisiana and thank you for your service! You are in the right place for advice. Saddlehunter is full of experienced and opinionated saddle hunters. I went the easy way and purchased the complete Kite package from Aero Hunter. I have been very pleased with the quality and performance of the package. I did add ropeman 1 ascenders to tether and linesman belt.

I completely overlooked the currently in Louisiana portion of the title. Where in Louisiana are you located? I’m outside of Baton Rouge but hunt in Tensas and Madison parish along the Mississippi River.

Welcome from Oklahoma. Thank you for your service! There is tons of information on this site. Lots of helpful people, too. If you are wanting to get something quick, you might check out the classifieds as there is usually lots of good stuff for sale there. You can find steps, harnesses, saddles, etc.

I'm in the same boat as you. Uncle Sam makes me learn new areas every few years. Nothing beats the versatility of a saddle. Have fun!

I am also brand new to saddle hunting and from Louisiana. I have been doing a lot of research of different brand saddles, climbing options, and have pretty much dialed in what I am going to get as my saddle set up. The only thing that I would like to do before buying is to physically try a saddle before buying. Do y'all know any places in LA that has saddles to try?

Check out the SH map. It will show you folks who are in your area that may allow you to try their stuff. Definitely try before you buy. Where are you in LA @T-Mike?

I'm in Rapides Parish just south of Alexandria. You can visit me, I have a Mantis, sit drag, DIY fleece saddles and preachers seat along with helium sticks, modded muddy sticks, wild edge steps, and Beast Sticks to try out.

Im in Lafayette area, Have a Kite, a trophy line saddle and a Mantis that may arrive next week. Can also help point you in the right direction on public land around here.

Next time im in that general vicinity I'll try to contact you before hand and maybe we can meet up. Preciate the hospitality

A bit further for me. But I may be able to make it out there. Around what town?

There’s no trees south of Houma anyway, might look into an anti-gravity machine. Lol

I’m in south Baton Rouge area and use a sit drag and also a custom saddle I made. There’s a few people around me that may be able to help as well.

Welcome. I'm less than an hour from Fort Polk if that is where you are. See my post to T-Mike if you would like to try out some things and thank you for your service.
