I shoot Victory vip tko 350s with the stock 50 grain outsert with 250 grain points.

Being that I been shooting Simmons Safaris and have plenty of them, I decided to try to build an arrow similar to the above which cones in a 575 taw.

Safaris are 205 grains so I had to make up 50 grains from the go.

I purchased Gold tip traditional 600 spine inserts which in my case fit i.d and o.d.
I cut pieces of 1916 shaft and cut the threaded section off of screws for 50 grains needed.

I put the shaft pieces in my drill and beveled the end that goes on first using a file.

I lightly sanded the portion of my carbon until it would start to slide on.
I then installed the insert without glue and with very light heat using a torch I slipped the footing on until even with insert. It takes very LITTLE heat for sleeve to expand. You don’t need to get it too hot.

I tried them in the yard and the fly very well.
Tomorrow I am going to a shoot and will know for sure.

I also feel these will hold up even better than stock and some other options.

These arrows weigh the same with a 200 on one and 250 on the other.

I am very happy with my build. The arrows flew good enough for the girls I know..

I will build more with little to no heat on the sleeves.

I had the black eagle focos system but retuned the components. I want more footing than that and also, with the point and “bell” it is too much forward of the shaft for me.

I believe my footing is hardier than anything available although I have not tried them all.
Probably won’t.
This works and not hard to do.

The first couple trial arrows were made with gold tip traditional accutough 600 spine inserts.
They will hold up well enough but going forward I want the toughest insert so I got gold tip airstrike stainless steel inserts in 250 spine.

The aluminum 600s are 27 grains and stainless are 72 grains.
I was able to lose the all thread and came in right at weight desired.
All inserts are flush with end of shaft and encased by the 1916 which is about 1/4” longer than end of shaft. Kind of H.I.T.

Sanding a footing on only takes a minute or two.
I force fit the last 1/16 with a few taps on wood.

The inserts are glued in after footing is set for depth using a dry insert.
This way they are glued in the shaft and to the footing at the head.

Pretty good arrow I say.
I shoot these out of my recurve and will use them with my HTR as well.
I’m only after Minute Of Coffee cup accuracy with Mybos.

Good luck with your own builds!
