For God's sake….more than one “doe” is “does”……with a “s”

I blocked someone on this forum for misspelling and putting periods after every other word. That being said I have an issue with their and there, I've tried on multiple occasions to understand which is which and I never can remember. Also have the same issue with to and too. I feel like an idiot and it drives me crazy not remembering.

Plural of deer is deers but you don’t hear anyone saying that either. Not really something to “rant” about. There is plenty of informal vernacular that doesn’t abide by our oh so confusion english rules.

You know we already have rant thread made specifically for these type things. It’s called the curmudgeon thread. Sounds like it would be your cup of tea.

I have a pasture full of cows behind my house, there are old ones, young ones, males and females. A pasture full of cows.

Yeah. It's stupid and I hate myself for it but stuff like that or "repelling gear" kills me. I've worked at a job where written communication is my bread and butter for about 5 years now, 3 at a university. I take the CIA World Factbook claim that we have a 99% literacy rate with a grain of salt.

I used the speech to text function on my phone to send you that PM this morning . I've got to admit that when I got into my office and stumbled over my own words as I was trying to reread it, I smiled a little knowing it might annoy you. :)

I sure wish people would stop saying “expecially”. It’s “ES”pecially. Especially. Not “EX”pecially. Literally 99.8% of anyone I know anywhere now says it. Even top execs of companies, everyone. No offense to anyone on here that says that.

Funny multiple "doe" story

Took my new to hunting buddy out to one of my public land spots and I set him up in his climber about 100 yards from me. I tell him like clockwork at 3:30pm everyday a truck load of deer always walk thru on the same path. At 3:30pm on the dot I get 11 does walk underneath me heading right to him. I already had 300 lbs of meat in the the freezer so I could be picky.

My text: "11 does coming your way, big one is last in line"

His response: "11 does what??"

Me: "11 female F$#@ing deer!!"

Saw him stand up, draw, release and sit back down. Well that didn't go well. He missed the big one and has never lived down the 11 does what? response. :tearsofjoy:

As long as you can “ feel me, catch my drift, smell what’s cooking, or know what I’m saying” it doesn’t bother me too much whether it’s spoken or written. If it flows well and isn’t confusing that’s good enough for me. I can also use good spelling, punctuation, and grammar in a long winded rambling post that isn’t going to make sense or be enjoyable to read for anyone.
Reality is I’ve got more important things to worry about. For instance where are y’all seeing all these doe or does at.We’re halfway through the season and I’ve yet to put any deer or deers on the scoreboard for team 2. Heck I just spent 2 days of a 3 day(why not an s here?) hunt trying to find acorns that weren’t there instead of trying to find deer. And see just like that it turned into a rambling post that isn’t much good to anyone.

"irregardless"

A higher-up at the college I worked for loved that word. Didn't help that I couldn't stand her regardless of whether or not she was speaking real words...

I have an issue with their and there
There = a place, as in over there. Their = it has an I in it, so it's the ownership variant. As in their coat.

Also have the same issue with to and too.
Too = also, has an extra o so it's the one that means also. As in, I too like big butts. Two = number. Everything else is to.

Just remember the "I" shows possession ...Their property, their vehicle, their nappy head....
