For those one sticking - are you using a separate platform, or a stick/platform combo?

I've used a ring of steps, 2 steps, my 1 stick without platform, my Lone Wolf hand CLimber, and my LWCG .5 platform, and I much prefer the .5 while 1 sticking to hunt out of with my saddle. I feel very mobile while leaning my feet against that stand, gives me lots of options. Also like that I can step on and sit on the seat, either with back to tree OR facing the tree, helps break up a long sit.

Do you climb with this? Can you post a pic sometime if it?

I replaced the button with a cam cleat after this pic.

I will say though last season I traded for the gen3 tethrd one sticks and I did pick up a pursuit platform and used that system exclusively the later half of the season. I’m not sure I’m saving much time overall either way but it the sticks and pursuit platform are super light!!

Love the pursuit platform. I used a hawk stick tho. Upgraded to a beast stick this year and will use the pursuit again.

Similar to others if it’s a shorter sit I’ll just use my one stick but if it’s an all day hunt I’ll take my ridge runner along. I use the EWO one stick with UP top step which works well for my size 13s. I tried the lower step platform as well but I’m too clumsy and kept getting my foot tangled on the way up.

Thanks all - picked up a used Wingman yesterday, and ordered the parts to turn it into a one-stick. I have a few months to play around with it before season comes in and see if I need a separate platform.

This will be my first season 1 sticking, but I plan on using the platform on my 1 one stick. Seem plenty big and comfortable enough. I do plan on using a 2 step ROS along with it though.

This^^^ I have one ROS step on each side of my platform using the same strap and love it. I use a full size hawk stick with single step aider for one sticking. I carry my stick in hand and leave bow on pack. I just hang my stick, tether up and start climbing. I do let the bow down before rappelling so I’ll remember to clip onto my delta link, so I can get my rope down. I like the separate tether for climbing vs using the end of my rappel rope. If I have to go over a branch, I use the end of my rappel rope as a lineman’s belt.
The whole saddle thing can be confusing as there are so many different ways to do it. Learn low and develop a routine. My system may not be too efficient, but my routine is solid with redundancy and a backup plan. Be safe and you will have fun!
