Snakes are out year round here. Copperheads, moccasins, and rattlesnakes.

I'm sure all the different venomous snakes can climb but I've only seen a water moccasin in a tree before. That is interesting he compared the strike to getting hit with an axe....I used to raise bantam chickens and I got hit in the hand by a tiny rooster and it felt like someone hit it with a hammer....crazy how much force small animals can deliver

My nearly blind father-in-law nearly got bit in a blueberry bush a few years back. Thats when I learned about the climbing for cicadas thing. But it’s kinda unusual for wintertime for sure.

nope moccasins are known to fall out of trees and into boats or canoes , you should always be watchful on low hanging limbs.
