Friction hitch cord for 9mm htp?

Any suggestions on a good cord for a friction hitch on 9mm htp (likely using a distel hitch). This could be for any of lineman’s belt, tether, and srt/rappel.

I saw someone mentioned 6mm powercord, but they also had some complaints with it. I’d prefer to avoid a beal jammy or prepared lengths like that, to ensure I can cut the lengths I need. And being able to cut and seal/burn the ends matters too.

Sterling 6mm trc?

This is the combo I am using. 3.5’ should be enough.
If you use a distel hitch as your friction hitch, would 3.5 feet be enough to join the ends together and what knot would you use? Double fishermans knot? Would you put a stopper knot in the ends of the fisherman knot? I've never used a distel knot yet but next year I would like to go with either the 8mm or 9 mm ropes. I read many times now that the distel is smoother than a prusik that has to be redressed after a strain on it.

I believe so. Is that what you want to do? It’s personal preference, of course, but I like the poachers knot in the carabiner because there is less flopping around.

Thank you for the info. Next spring I'll try the distel on one of my ropes and see how it works. I'll use the 11mm rope first then see about buying either the 8mm oplux or 9mm HTP. I haven't researched that yet for cost and accessibility.
