Totally forgot it was the pheasant opener but it helped me out. Was in the saddle by 615 and as soon as first light came saw two does but they didn’t come in close enough. Then all the shotguns start going off and I’m thinking I’m done. I’m set up on a rub line that’s about 50 yards long and thinking deer will hunker down with all the gunshots. Looking in the direction of the shots hoping they might bump deer to me but nothin. Swing around the tree and see what I think is a fork buck, looking through a lot of foliage. He comes to within 15 yards on my strong side and I let one fly. He went maybe 50 yards. I’m happy with him and not too bad for heavily hunted public land. Good luck everyone and stay safe.
