Frustrated so far

So now I have bags for everything that I can put inside my backpack. The bags that hold my tether and lineman's belt can be pulled out of the pack and attached to my belt for climbing. I climbed a tree at home and tuned my climbing process too. I'm going to leave my camera gear, save a go pro, at home for now. Hopefully the dogs will stay away!

That's why I encourage folks to experiment and try things post season so you have summer/fall to practice one system. But we all have done something similar.... I've forgot my boots, bow and kayak paddle..... made from some quick change of plans.

Dont get down though, lots of season left. Perhaps right out a checklist and make yourself use it before leaving every single hunt. Its cut down my forgotten items significantly.

heres a video that covers a few checklist as part of my hunting log book

I used to leave stuff at the truck all the time. I started wearing all the really important stuff and leaving the maybe stuff in my bag. I rarely leave stuff now unless I really don’t want to have it with me.
Now if I didn’t leave important stuff at the base of my tree before ascending, I’ll have rounded another learning curve myself lol.

I’ve left stuff in the truck or at home such as releases, thermacell, bow, treestand, boots, permit to sign in at check station, etc

Have had to hunt in flip flops

Nothing like showing up to a blackpowder hunt only to find u brought ur rifle cuz the hardcases are similar looking

That’s why u should always keep a good knife handy so atleast u can hunt with it

I take things with me on hunts I know I’ll never need. But it’s there in the bag and won’t be forgotten to be put back in for the hunt I need it on. After each hunt prior to anything else except maybe putting some dry clothes on, I prep for the next days hunt. My buddies in camp wonder why I’m always fiddling with my gear but I’m always prepared and rarely have dead batteries or missing equipment. It becomes routine after a while...hang in there

Well I finally got it together and got in a tree. As a matter of fact I'm typing this from a tree right now. It's 25 degrees and spitting snow. I've only seen one small buck but I really like this saddle hunting thing. I like it except for when the wind blew before daylight causing the tree to sway and making me think I was falling! That was a pucker moment!
