On January 24, I sent my binos and rangefinder back to Leupold as my binos focusing was broken and the rangefinder was faded to the point that it was hard to see the readout. Fast forward to Feb 17th and I received an email that the binos and rangefinder was on hold due to it not being in stock. If I had not heard from them in 6 weeks to call them. Well I called about 2 weeks ago and they still had not gotten any shipment in for the binos (10x32) but they had 10x42's in stock. Same price so I went with it. No rangefinders in stock then. I called again today...no rangefinders still in stock. However my frustration is this...when I expressed my frustration, the representative who I spoke to informed me that I was free to cancel my order. Say what?!? I bought the leupold brand because of the "Lifetime warranty" and when my binos or rangefinders go bad or break then I send them back. However now I'm told that I'm free to cancel my order simply because I expressed my prolonged frustration. I have a new CDS scope that I've been dying to sight in and only have farmland to do this in...not a established range.
I sent them an email and doubt I'll get a response, but that statement of "you're always welcome to cancel your order." That was both unprofessional and unnecessary. They have my old rangefinder and it is worthless...Oh and their lifetime warranty does not include electronics after 2 years. So if I were to cancel said order then I'd have to buy full price of another rangefinder. As it is, I'm getting 100.00 off the price of a new one....but my complaint is that the statement made me feel as though he was brushing me off as a customer.
I'm half tempted to sell all my Leupold optices, Binos (10x42), CDS scope, 1-4x20mm scope, and soon to be the new rangefinder 1200i and go to Vortex. I will seriously consider buying optics from Vortex in the future as I was going to buy several more CDS scopes. Rant off...
