Hi-

how are you guys doing full burry with a 8’ long piece of 1/4” amsteel. 16’ total need 8’ of finished line.

Thanks,
Joe

You will need at least 18' to get a finished 8' full bury. You lose about 25% of the length with expansion of the outer layer. 8' buried into the 10' side, after a locked brummel, should get you close.

Any trick to feeding it through? Do you just use a long piece of wire?

Appreciate the tip on the length of amsteel needed.
How do you usually finish the end?

Thanks,
Joe

Ya, I use about a 6' piece of house wiring (sorry, don't know the gauge) doubled over then crimp the tag end into it.
For the end just a double stopper knot with shrink tubing over the tag end.
I'm not a professional, most likely an idiot and likely to die climbing using something I made. So please keep searching for advice. The amsteel rabbit hole is fun though. Enjoy!

I been using a knitting needle cut off and going as far as I can pull it out them put it right back in the same hole and do it all over again until a finish

That’s a good idea. Do you just tape it real well? Seems like that might be the easiest. I have fish sticks.

I stop the buried piece a few inches short and taper the bury. I then tie a stopper knot in the tail and heat shrink the end of the tail.
