All right y’all, I still plan on using a saddle this year, and while I haven’t got the saddle yet, I’m still debating which climbing sticks to use. I’m a skinny guy so they don’t have to be too robust, I favor the light weight more compact approach. If I had 3 or 4 of the ones Ricky brought to Saddlepalooza, I’d be set. I know there’s a ton of info here and I’m still somewhat clueless. Any advice appreciated

If sticks are what you want i would get the hawk heliums as they are light and reasonably priced at $99 on cabelas and other retailers. You can always mod them with versa buttons either a diy one or get the lonewolf replacement buttons. Grab yourself some static type rope (i prefer htp static) from rw ropes or accessory cord 7-8mm. You can cut them down later as there is a nice video in the diy section.

If you want super compact Wild edge steps are hard to beat. Paired with there aider or if you have the time to make a seaider and knaider you will be climbing to new heights in a short time.

I would advise strongly against buying sticks this year.

You can either use my API stick you have or I have some modified Muddy hunter sticks.

You giving away sticks. I will take a set. :p:p

I use lonewolf sticks and Wild Edge steps . I think I'm going to buy a set of Hawk helium sticks. I like the double steps and with aiders I should get close to 20 feet with 3 sticks.

Looks like Ricky has you covered. That gives you another saddlepalooza to play with everyone else's stuff to make sure you get your purchase right the first time. Looking forward to seeing your video's about your saddle journey.

Ricky I might take you up on that. If I like them and you don’t want them can I buy em off you?

Found my deer today I need a saddle to hunt, there are no climber trees around the CRP where he lives...

This is my 1st season with sticks as well as a saddle. I went with Hawk Heliums and you can see another recent post on how I feel about the rope mod. Some may not believe me but I'm 6'4" and although I have not measured, I've got to be close to 20' in the air with 3 sticks. I am stretching pretty good and plan to pick up a 4th stick because late season with a lot of layers I won't be getting that high. All in all, really like the hawk heliums but have nothing to compare them to.

6’ 4”? What the heck do you need to climb a tree for? Haha!

10essee and morgancountry are correct! :D

Catman, I hope to see a video of that velvet moose on the ground.

He won’t be in velvet by the time I get to hunt him, but I’m already figuring out a plan for setting up on him.
