Going from ROS to Platform

I prefer a Wild Edge ROS so far... I own the Perch as well, which I use for SRT. However, I DID order a OOAL Solo Scout, and I DO plan on running an Ameristep on the strap on each side in addition to the platform.

Another reason to keep the ROS in addition to your platform...
There are times that I've decided to leave my predator in the tree. It might be one of those days that the spot was crawling with rutting bucks and I have full intentions to return the next day. Then, overnight, something happens like horrible weather rolls in, bad wind direction, or some other issue which prevents me from getting back there the next day. If the platform is the only one I owned, then I would be screwed if I decided to hunt another spot a day or 2 later.
Gotta be prepared for the platform to somehow be unavailable. In that case, you'll have a ROS to use.

That’s why I carry multiple climbing systems on every trip as well. Usually overnight I’ll remind myself that I chose the spot because it was a great evening spot and decide to hunt a different spot in the morning with the possibility of returning the next evening.

Another reason to have either multiple platforms or a platform and ros is taking a kid or guest and introducing them to saddle hunting.

Do yourself a favor and keep them. If not you will be buying another ROS.

One thing I’ve found w/ a ROS I prefer a few more than most & put them in pairs.... I usually just have 4 on ocb & use the top of my sticks & offset each side of the stick w/ a pair about 120ish degrees off the stick & that allows me comfortably shoot 360

this is pretty much what I do. I started with just a stick top, went to a predator, and I’m back to a squirrel step ROS with the top of a beast stick as my main foot spot. I did like the one time I used my LW alpha as a platform, but that defeats the whole idea of a saddle. I’m still tweaking as I go. The scout looks like an interesting option as well.

Ok the bottom stick is my platform. I made it trying to loose my ROS. I hated it took so long go settle into place. Using a ratchet strap is really loud and a pain to undo in the cold. My only complaint so far with my prototype is its at 90 degrees. I have foot issues and wish this idea was adjustable for leaning and sitting.
