Without getting too personal, I'm satisfied with a synthetic "under-base" layer. Cotton kills, but a synthetic skin contact layer just seems more comfortably hygienic.

Liking the FirstLite Wick boxers briefs so far as they are new to me this year, and have a few pairs of Meriwool 160s that are nice. IMO, the FL ones feel cooler, maybe thinner, more comfortable. But have not worn them under base layers yet

And pre hunt, make sure you change into your hunting clothes INSIDE of your truck and not outside of it please!

I have rolled out of the hotel in ASAT base layers to some funny looks.

But those come off when I get to my stand location and I change into a dry set.

Once, I almost shot a nice buck, while pantsless.

My Dad and one of our hunting buddies were slow to get up one morning, which made me late to where I wanted to hunt and it was already getting light when I arrived. I had hiked extra fast and was a sweaty mess, so after stripping to change I lingered an extra minute to cool down.

Fishing my dry layers from my pack, I heard the soft patter of deer steps on wet leaves closeby. I turned and a nice 8pt was walking right at me, about 25yds away. I don't know if it was my bare ass or reaching for my rifle, but that deer's eyes got mighty big and that sucker turned and bolted before I could get a shot off.

Funny thing is, before I could even get settled in the tree for the day's hunt, it started pouring and I was soaked through in minutes.

Rained cats and dogs for three days straight, and that was the only deer sighting by any of our hunting party.
