Is there a knot that ties a strong loop but you can tie it tight? Imagine if you could tie one side of a loop created by double fisherman's, cinch it down, and then tie the other side without creating slack. You'd then have a tight little stand alone loop. A slip knot like a scaffold knot won't work for what I'm doing because it relies upon force from the long end and would come apart if left on its own a force tried to open it.
The loop cannot be sized appropriately and then slipped over the end because it must go through a channel.
I know I could tie a square knot, but I don't trust them not to come undone (climbers call them the death knot).
If I could tie a tight overhand bend then that would work, but not sure how to do that.
Thanks - R
