I got a new computer last week. I had to download a new version of GE. It's totally different. Very fast. However, I can't seem to figure out how to rotate the image. The other feature I liked to was to be able go back in time to older views. Any ideas?

I would highly suggest learning UTM.
Its very simple and I find it easier to use.

When you figure out your other troubles switching earth to UTM is a mouse click away.

What is this? Please provide a link. Thanks!

When using a standard mouse, click and hold the middle scroll button. While holding the scroll you are able to drag the mouse and rotate the image around as well as change the elevation view level.

Are you using the Desktop version or do you open it from your web browser? The browser version does not have the historical imagery.

Ok

OK, so I don't have that option. But think I figured it out. I double clicked on the compass in the bottom right corner. Now I can rotate. However I still would like to go back in time and see older pics. Any ideas?

Anyone know how see different years? I had it on the old download. Can't seem to be able to find it on the new one.

If using google earth pro - goto view and check Historical Imagery --- this will give you a timeline in the upper left you can scroll to view historical imagery of the area.

UTM is a coordinate system. It is entirely different than how you view or manipulate the graphical information displayed on the screen (rotate, pan, tilt).

On my old version Historical imagery was up in the top left corner. The other controls were in top right corner. This new version everything is in the lower right. I don't see historical imagery as an option. It's all slightly different.

What version are you running? Help - About Google Earth (will bring up the version number). Mine is at Google Earth Pro 7.3.4.8248 (64-bit).

And just so we're on the same sheet of music - here's a snap shot of where historical imagery is located.

Your version is the version I used to have. This new version looks different. However you have helped me answer my question. In the FAQ section it states that some long-time classic desktop GE features aren't available yet. I have to download the old version to view historical imagery. Thank You.

My version shows a little box with the year in the bottom left corner. I click on that and a slider pops up (usually in the upper left of the image) and that slider allows me to negotiate thru the historical imagery. BTW, it's a great feature. I hope they never do away with it...which probably means that they will at any time now.
