I am a saddle virgin, but intend to make the leap over the summer for the upcoming season. For you guys that have been doing this a while and been able to hunt both which would you prefer for overall comfort in the tree? I often like to make LONG sits and hope these will embrace that sort of hunting.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Well I hunted out of the web for 3 years and it's the most comfortable way to hunt. I sit no problem for an all day sit. I tried an evolution this winter and had it 3 days and sold it. Also hunted out of the saddle a it hurt to sit.

There will be others that will be the total opposite but I lovr my web.

For me it is hard to beat the comfort of a GW. I am working on a home made saddle that might compete but that is yet to be seen

Thank you guys for the information.. I know looking at the two the GW appears to be A LOT more comfort driven, but I had seen several post on here talking about the Evo being great right out of the box so I was just trying to get some prospective from guys that have actually sat them both. I am not really going to be one of these guys looking to minimize as much as possible. I am gearing more toward the freedom of tree selection this is going to open me up to.

I am also a newbie to the saddle way of hunting but have decided that it is the only way to go for the type of hunting I do. I hunt Wayne national forest and have been hauling a climbing stand in and out of the woods for too long. After reading all the posts about light weight saddle hunting I think it would be the best option for the big woods. I have read a ton of posts on the two most popular saddles GW and aero. Considering they are over $300 I am scared to make the wrong choice. So I wanted to know if anyone knew where I could go to try one, I live in Columbus Ohio And no hunting stores around here have them.

I ran into the same problem Nicholas, I am not sure about Guido's Web because I haven't contacted them yet but I contacted New Tribe and expressed this concern. Their response was GREAT, they told me if I ordered one and was not happy with it so long as there was no damage they would refund me within 6 mo's of purchase! You can't beat that sort of customer service! Only problem is, the more I read and the more I look I think the Guido is going to fit my lazy man hanging in the tree style.

Good luck with your transition

Sounds like Nicholas may be applying for the local expert position at saddlepalooza

No doubt. As local expert, your duties include providing basic amenities to saddlepalooza attendees and participants.
I like my steaks medium rare.

I've been wanting to buy a GW for a couple years, but I chose the aero when I finally bought a saddle a couple years ago. The aero was plenty comfortable to me four sitting all day and napping. But I found that while it was way smaller and easier to carry than a stand (not to mention mobile) , I kept wanting to go smaller and lighter. At this point, I think I could be comfortable attaching a bridge or lineman belt to the belt loops (which would have to be heavily reinforced of course) and hanging from a tree with no more than my weather appropriate clothing.
So my advice is to go ahead and buy the saddle you think you're most likely to like. As you gain experience and knowledge of your preferences you'll adjust. Maybe that means you stay with your selection of saddles. Maybe that means you sell it or just keep it and find the funds for your next one. Who knows how it'll play out? But I bet you have fun figuring it out.

I'm in Columbus. I have a Guido's Web. You can try it out right in my back yard (Size L). Send me a PM.

Also, we are planning a trip to Wayne next year for a group hunt. If you have not seen that yet, check out the Deer Hunting section.

I'm up for some scouting... I live in New Albany.

If you guys are going to scout the Wayne sometime give me a holler and I will try to make it! Going to be pretty busy since we lost our current lease and found a new one and have to move EVERYTHING but I will still try to make it when you guys go!
