Hand Muffs? anyone use?

Early season I wear a dream season jacket that has hand warm pockets at chest height. When it starts to get cold I switch to a Cabelas muff that came with my stand hunter coveralls . I rig it to a crooked horn bino harness works great!

I stay without gloves as long as I can, then thin gloves, then the muff comes out. I never practice shooting my bow with thick gloves on, so I don’t want to get caught like that during season. On 0 degree and 20mph days I’ve used thin gloves, a fleece lined muff, and a hand warmer or two inside. Super toasty.

I definately agree that some pockets on pants, jackets, etc. are tough to use when in the saddle.

Icebreaker with a single hand warmer is the way to go. Those things are toasty!
Hey, how well does the ice breaker pack up to fit in a pack? Synthetic fill generally sucks as far as packability, but I'm not finding much out there for real down...

Packability is the only downside to the icebreaker, as you already suspect. Like you, I'm not a fan of bulk but the tradeoffs for the warmth and gloveless unencumbered hands are worth it IMO!

Thanks for the input! I"m thinkig of grabbing a down jacket at the thrift store and rutting an arm off and making one. I can puta layer of wool or something a little weather proof around the outside--maybe some silent gortex if I've got an old jacket laying around...Just want something I can throw in a small stuff sack if I dont want it...

Thats a great idea! Something I'll try if I ever come in need of another muff.
One thing I didn't mention is how i pack mine. If using a daypack, I just wrap the waist strap around the pack and carry it on the outside saving myself space. If walking without a pack I just put it on and turn the muff backwards.
