I think hunting has made me a better person because of an appreciation of nature. Working toward a goal. Camaraderie.
And for me…story telling and sharing the experience with others that love our sport. I think that’s what makes me a better person. What about you?

Hmm I could agree in that sense but have you ever asked yourself, did you pick up hunting and enjoy it bc you’re a good humble person to begin with and theres something primal and connecting about hunting and you being a good person is drawn to that naturally. Just a thought but either way id take it.

Thats an easy one.honering my parents.they both slay blacktails.when it dawned on me that the simple answer to a correct life is
living a life within the Logos of the natural law of the universe according to its desighn, this is the simple acction that creates greater Reaction.cause and effect.first sientific law you learn as an infant.cry and get tit .i Was nothing untill i started honering my parents.and when i ever repay those who Hazed me.i in retrospect honer their parents.and so on all of our ansesters.and So on their creator.love you dog.that Was easy.

No. I have found it is not how you act when you are happy or when you are enjoying yourself that is a measure of a person. How you comport yourself under stress, anger, and frustration is what counts.

In the way @thedutchtouch suggests, absolutely it has. I'll also add that it has helped keep a relationship with one of my best friends alive, and that that was part of my motivation for getting into it. He had to make major life changes, I made a minor one.

All said I'd say yes it has made me a better person, no doubt

I think so. I had kids and then a job with lots of overtime to support them at a fairly young age. My 20s and 30s were dedicated to work and kids. I was also trying to get away from a crappy dad.
Getting in to archery and then bow hunting helped me have some peace with my dad (long since passed on but was a hunter), learn new skills, and have a hobby that occupied me in a meaningful way now that the kids are on their own

I don’t know if it made me a better person but it definitely made me a healthier person. When I was a kid, I was always hunting, fishing and outside… constantly on the move. As I got older, I got preoccupied with all the usual trappings and found myself in a very unhealthy situation. I was prediabetic, hypertension, high blood pressure etc and headed down a road that I didn’t care if I could come back from. I listened to a podcast about hunting and the memories of my youth came flooding in, reminding me of who I used to be and needed to become again. I am almost 10 years sober, weigh 105 lbs less, take zero medications, eat 95% wild game meals, have the energy I did 30 years ago and along with the physical changes come the added benefits of knowing my value and not putting myself or others in bad situations. I can’t say hunting did all of that but it was the lynch pin that got me headed in the right direction.

It’s made me more self sufficient, pragmatic and less emotional about life, death and man’s role in nature. It also confered benefits in the areas of ethical decision making, perseverance during adversity, attention to detail, risk management and a host of other character building attributes.
