Bought a hawk hangout recently and did a few mods which made it extremely stable. First I moved platform to center of post. Next I attached a strap to the platform so you can cam it over to secure to the tree. Finally I added a strap under platform to keep it securely cammed even without weight on platform. Will try to post pics. $40 invested. A little heavy but safe and secure.
 
Nice mods, a lot of people have questions about this setup so hopefully it helps someone. Welcome to the site.
 
Also should note that I replaced platform bolt with a 3/8 in bolt and did away with nylon washers. Really stiffened it up.
 
Any improvements needed now that it's been done for a few months? Need to replace the brackets to something with more teeth?
