I’m looking at buying some helium’s but can’t decide on the full length to give me the option to cut them down or to go ahead and buy a 4 pack of the 20 inch sticks. I’m about 6’2 and more of an athletic build did anyone ever find a reason to have the full length vs the short ones? Pros/cons of full length vs the 20 inch sticks would be appreciated and modification ideas for both sticks what you found to be a nifty modification.

I have the full length Hawk sticks. I hunted with them all last season and really liked them after I exchange the straps for amsteel rope and swapped out the button. But after deer season I was ready to cut them down and was planning to until I saw Hawk was coming out with 20" sticks, which I plan on replacing my full length sticks with.

I'm 5' 9" and athletic built, with a two step aider I can get 20' to 22' foot to the top of the highest stick. I attach my aider to the top of my sticks, so I'll be able to climb to the same high with the shorter sticks, sticks will be easier to pack through the woods, less weight (I'll only be using 3 sticks most of the time) and if needed I'll have an extra stick I can take for extra height.

Pro - ease of carrying through woods
Con - less height with each step but easily mitigated with aider.

I have cut down Helium's to 24", hang a 48" strap over the top step, each stick gets me 6 foot of height, another 2 foot from top stick to platform, my feet are at 20 feet with three sticks

For me, this will partly come down to if the 20" Heliums make their claimed weight. My Heliums are chopped to 23" step with DIY versabutton and amsteel daisy chains, and they weight 2.5 lbs each. If the 20" are really 1.8 lbs, then I can carry 5 for the same weight as 4 and get higher in the tree with barely more work. I personally think the weight of the 20" sticks without strap will be over 2 lbs. No one has them in hand yet to test and give an honest weight. Midway usa says they have them, but I doubt that is accurate.

I have them. Ordered from Midway, received today. With the tree U-brackets installed, they weigh exactly 2 lbs.
