I have some hawk helium’s that I keep having issues with the bottom part of the stick not setting well or moving. This years model with original straps. Straps are tight, just not getting the bottom to set. Strap is level.
What am I missing??

How straight are the trees? Make sure all 4 points of the stand offs are making contact and then jam them down after tightening strap. Like you’re gunna do a pullup on them.

That work?

Weird, I've not had that issue. I just try and set the back of the strap higher than the button when I first set it then pull down hard and off I go. That's some scary stuff though. Be careful for sure, that's how kickouts happen

Me neither. I modified them down to 22 in. and put an rope mod on them. Be sure to pull down on them before stepping up on them

I do not like 3 foot sticks as the leverage makes them far more prone to moving/kicking out. All sticks can move if the bark is rough, uneven or tree is not "round" the key is to SET the stick after you tighten it. If it loosens while you set it , pull it up a bit, retighten and then reset it. I do not have much movement at all with my modified heliums and Amsteel - but I wrap it tight and set it good before I ever step up on them. Doing it this way, they seldom move at all when i do step up on them.

It is normal for them to set while pulling down with your arms then set a little more when you step on them. Like @pesqimon said make sure the bottom standoffs are against the tree. Make sure when you step on the bottom step your weight is directed straight down the stick and not to the side or they WILL kick sideways. Always try to keep your weight directed downwards and not to the side.

Make sure your stick isn't twisted. I bought a set and when I assembled them one stick was twisted so that not all the teeth for the standoffs touch the surface. Lay yours on a table and make sure all the standoff teeth touch the surface.
