Hawk helium versa button rope mod

Here is mine. I used a 5/16 bolt and fender washer. cut a short section of 3/8 metal pipe to make a spacer. I later then cut my steps down to a 2 step stick to shave weight and use aiders.

When you remove your strap the bolt you use to create your button will go through the same hole. Now that I think about it I think it was a 1/4" bolt. If you make your own spacers be sure they are the right length so the rope binds as you put weight on your steps. I am using 7mm rope. It does seem to stretch a bit. I might would up the size to 8mm if I was to do it again..

Thanks great pics this will help out a bunch! How long are your ropes? And how high can ubget with those four steps?! Also how long of a rope are using!! 8mm acc cord from pmi is what i ordered!

I have 9' ropes and they are almost long. With 2 step aiders on my sticks I can get 5-6 feet per stick.

I have all the hardware, just need to throw it together.... i have lone wolf versa buttons, and the 7mm pmi accessory cord

What does the rope mod do for you above and beyond what staps already provide?
I cant imagine it could be more secure, possibly some weight and quietness, am I nuts?

Quietness and weight were the reasons I did it. More for noise than anything else.

I used the lone wolf versa buttons on my heliums. They work great. I paired them with some 9mm sterling superstatic rope

The 7mm stretches way to much for my liking too... the top of the stick even pulls away from the tree until it locks down after stretch is out of it...

I mainly went with the 7mm because I liked the neutral color, and I read that others used it.... I'm gonna go with some 8mm static rope I think... here's the one I am thinking about ordering...
