Just ordered a set. I will post a full review upon arrival. Anybody out there with any experience? How is the included strap?

I've heard the straps no good but it's hard to mess up a metal step.
Given all the quality concerns that hawk has had in the past and the fact that all’s they tell you is “aluminum construction” I’d say it’s not the hard to mess up a metal step. They’re known for pushing junk products. Prime example, I had a set of 20” helium’s two sticks broke steps. I’m just barely 200 pounds so it’s not like I was anywhere near the weight capacity. I tried time and time again to get ahold of hawk and never got a message back until I pulled the lawyer card which is when they finally refunded me my money and told me to keep the sticks so I gladly threw their **** products in the garbage

I have a set. Used them twice. Strap is the same as come on the heliums. Not a great strap. Steps work fine but they twist on the tree because I cant get the strap tight enough or it has to much stretch. Think an over cam strap or ratchet will work better.

First I've heard of Helium sticks actually breaking. I knew of the quality control issues with slag inside the sticks and the suction cups breaking but, they were more annoyances then safety issues. All I can speak to is my experiences with an old cut down set and a new set of minis. They have been working flawlessly for years.

Also, there are a lot of Helium sticks currently in use and I would hazard a guess that the rate of failure is probably less then a certain high end stick that cost 4 times as much and is currently selling for more than retail because they aren't currently available.

I got my ROS from Bullman. Made by Silent Approach. they have a quality strap and stay tight 90% of the time. 64.99

I got my ROS from Bullman. No idea who makes them but they have a quality strap and stay tight 90% of the time.

Which bullmans, the silent approach or the pioneers? I have both sitting in my Amazon cart.

And BTW, I only use 4 steps on mine. Lighter and more compact that way. It comes with 6 though.

I haven’t had any negative experiences with my hawk equipment. When modded, you can really dial in their equipment (it’s good for DIYers).

I run the 20s with versa straps (they’re great) and I also run the HSP platform with 4 bolts anchoring the platform to the sticks and I’ll tell ya it’s hard to beat how efficient and reliable it’s been.

I have them and I use them: two steps on each side of a small over the stick platform (the hawk hps) I did not bother to use/try the cam buckle, and replaced it with an endless ratchet. They work well in that way.

Just received my set in the mail. The steps themselves seem perfectly fine. They are one piece aluminum, with nice tread, and a nice tooth in the rear that bites the tree nicely. The strap and buckle do not get as tight as I would like to the tree. The strap itself is nice, but the buckle not so much. I will probably replace with an ocb or ratchet strap when I get a chance.

If hawk is listening, why not come out with an "XL" step/ ring of steps. I wouldnt mind the extra bulk whatsoever if it meant added comfort. I could care less about the added weight. Any ring of steps is already laughably light compared to anything else. I also would have liked 6 steps instead of 4. The price was right, I caught them on sale for like 39.99. I wonder if I could order 2 individual steps with no strap from hawk. Hawk should just drop the strap and sell sets of naked steps for a cheaper price with no strap. Sets of 4,6,8,50, etc.

Its not just the buckle that's bad the strap has to much stretch in it. Its junk. Yes wish I could get 2 steps also

I like mine just fine. I wasn't expecting anything special with them but I added the EWO OCB and they are solid on the tree. I bought two sets to have 5 on my OCB and then add two to my solo scout. I'll say the combo of a ROS and my Predator is like heaven in the tree. I tried my ROS by itself this week on a 4 hour sit and found it to be very comfortable as well. Hard to beat the packability of the ROS too!
