Heavy arrow sight suggestions

I decided to build a heavy arrow set up this summer and just let the bow tell me what it liked to shoot. After playing with spine, point weight, and fletching. The end result was a 695gn arrow flying at 226 FPS. Problem now is the sight I have (TR V5 react) does not allow enough pin gap. So question now is what sight would y’all recommend for this slow of a setup.

Single pin sight and don’t shoot at a deer past 25 yards. Set the pin at about 20 and it should be close to +-3” from 0-25. It might be 20, just have to play with it.

I did the same thing last year with the TR V5 react, although I wasn't quite as heavy an arrow. I shot the top pin at 20 yards and then maxed out the remaining pin gap. I then shot the second pin at increasing yardage until it hit center target, then did the same for pins 3 through 5. I then made a yardage tape that I put on the edge of the site window of my bow. I think for me it was roughly 20, 28, 35, 42 and 47 or something like it. I've since gone to an EZ V and don't expect to go back to pins. Good luck!

The only word of caution for people reading...if u have a slower bow and drop poundage either because of tuning issues with the heavy arrows or like me u just want to lower because u can with the more efficient arrows u can get to the point with EZV inserts that the 200fps isn't slow enough. Im not exactly sure what poundage (50-55) or speed my arrows fly but 20 and 30 are good but 40 is pretty far off. I added a sharpie mark to the v insert after shooting and verify with a range finder. I still carry a range finder but really only use it to range the surrounding area. I honestly don't think I'd ever shoot that far but I could after verifying with range finder. I aim low trying to compensate for the "string jump"...lower lower 1/3...

I'd recommend lowering poundage to anybody...makes shooting much more enjoyable. Also allows u to draw with less movement in funky positions while dangling off ur tether....also seemed to help quiet the bow but that may just be in my mind

That’s what I did. I went down to right at 60 lbs. I’m shooting 640g arrows and I’m at 245 FPS using the 250 insert and by some miracle it is dead nuts at all the tick marks down to the 60 yard ticks. I’m a 30.5 DL so that helps too. Bow is the PSE Carbon Mach 1 but I was getting the same results on a Mathews V3 27 as well.

If you have EZV issues call Aaron at EZV. He Was even texting me as I was figuring things out. That’s bad ass customer service right there.

Have you tried going Up an insert? I went from the 240 to 250 and it cured everything for me.

Not a fan of the EZV. But you are not just imagining things - less energy transfer from the lower poundage, means less energy dissipated in the form of vibration (noise). The more energy the bow doesn't transfer to the arrow, the louder it is, and vice versa.

My deer last year makes me a believer....I was knelt down on my knees on the ground and I had 7 doe all less than 30 yards from me when I shot....after the shot all but 2 were still standing there....alert but all still within range if I had wanted to shoot again.

Aaron is an amazing human being. I’ve spoken him on the phone a couple times with issues I was having, he’s like a wise old teacher always takes his time with the slow kid.
