Helium step platform

With the longer bolts will also come more stress where they contact the stick, picture a bigger crowbar if you will, so the bolts and egging/deformation of the holes would both be areas to watch

Yeah I'd watch for that first.

That little bolt will be screaming...... Also 3x the leverage trying to wallow the holes in the stick.....at least it's double shear through the stick

2 extra steps in front, one extra in back should be quite a bit of added stress with full body weight. It would be gentler on the stick hole if it was 1 extra in front and 1 extra behind.

Someone should experiment with a piece they cut off and see how it holds up, at ground level of course

Now y'all got me wondering... I'm no stickologist but I can't imagine the Helium main beam handling torquing from sideload very well

As promised... came home tonight and tried out the Extra Step Platform (ESP).

Everything felt good about it during this first test run. Didn't look like any real excessive torque applied other than the normal way I lay into the top step.

I say "lay into it" that way because I've been using the top step of my Helium as a primary platform for some time now augmented with a ring of 4 Squirrel Steps. So, the top step is pretty abused anyway.

I'll give it a few more runs and then a hunt and report back later.

Even if you could cut it down to three and eliminate the outermost one would think stress levels would be much less and more equal across the bolt.
