Hello everyone, my name is Bill and I am new to the saddle hunting scene, not sure how I never heard of it until a few months ago. As an active duty Soldier, for over 20 years now, I've been pretty limited to hunting public / military installation land. Not that that is a bad thing, I just wish I had known about saddle hunting back when I first joined. I have primarily hunted from a climbing stand and occasionally a ground blind and been pretty successful but, I am tired of carrying a noisy, heavy stand. Anywho, I just received a box full of goodies from the guys over at Tethrd, a few packages from Eastern Woods Outdoors, and rope and Kong Ducks from WEI; now I'm just waiting on my 20" Hawk Heliums to arrive later this summer. I don't remember who posted about Mack's Prairie Wings having a good sale on the 20" Heliums but, thank you for the heads up, saved about $30. The information I've gleaned from this forum and the numerous YouTube channels has been extremely useful, thank you all very much for sharing your knowledge and experience. I'm sure my wife and kids are probably getting tired of me watching YouTube videos about saddle hunting and gear reviews.
To say that I am excited to get into the woods with this setup might well be the understatement of the century. While turkey hunting I keep finding myself eyeballing trees and picturing myself setup in one that I wouldn't be able to get into with my climber . I got into my saddle today, just a few feet off the ground, and I really like the freedom of movement and ability to position myself for shots on any side of the tree. That's about enough rambling for now.
