Hello From MD

Welcome from Bama! And yes, this site and habit is rough on the bank account. Haha!
Yep. I haven't killed a deer yet and just bought my second platform yesterday... If I have more stuff I have a better chance right? (Lol no, just need to get out more...)

headed back out again tomorrow. a lot of firsts, (I know you're not really supposed to do this but it is what it is, I don't have many opportunities to get out so I'm going for it. If I'm not comfortable I'll change plans on the fly and hunt from the ground or something) first time with daisy chains, first time with mission platform, and trying a "new" pack- I have an old ALICE pack that i years ago did the "hellcat" mod to, well I took off the MOLLE sleep system and am using the pack with the frame and MOLLE straps and kidney belt... its pretty heavy, but feels much more comfortable loaded than my kelty backpack with a wimpy internal "frame". We'll see what the back thinks about the hike in and out. oh and sticking with sneakers rather than boots to not repeat the same mistake, carrying more water, and am going to be more economical with my movements- no exploring, just going straight to the spot i want to hunt. I'm bowhunting on the last day of gun season so I'm going about 2 miles or so in in hopes that the deer are pushed back in to the woods. again, we'll see.

hoping to have some success, i'm in total if it's brown it's down mode- time to eat! likely though, I'll look back at my naiveté and laugh some day, ideally while chewing on a snack stick or some jerky.

Note from the tree: daisy chains are a no go on the mission for me, glad I brought the stock strap too, it’s awesome and rock solid. Need some dang boots, my feet got soaked through my sneakers this morning, thank goodness for thick wool socks otherwise I would have quit for being too cold, we shall see if I got trench foot when I get back (joking). Now if only the deer would show up. Or more likely, if only I’d learn to set up in a better spot, I’m thinking the trails I set up on are used at night to pass through, got a little turned around in the fog this AM and set up about 300-400 yards from where I wanted to. Got down midday and was about to move, and someone comes strolling through with a rifle. We waved, I turned around and hide a loop and wound up in basically the same spot. Likely all I did was spread scent around, but no big deal there appears to be no deer here anyway! Sticking it out another few hrs. Latitude method is pretty nice for all day sit so far but I’ve nothing to compare it to.

I tried this method and it worked for my mission.

I tried that as well but buggered it up and ended up with a loose daisy chain with a tight knot. went back to the strap because I didn't want to keep wasting time and messing around up in the tree, I knew the strap would work and... I brought it. Somewhat defeats the purpose of a daisy chain being lighter when ya bring both but I'm in learning more lol. Will spend some more backyard time practicing that though thanks for the reminder/encouragement that it should work.

Welcome from Rhode Island.

I'm enjoying your journey. we all go through it. We learn with experience. The more I learn the more I buy. I've got bins of stuff that I won't get rid of.
