I have really enjoyed reading this forum over the past few days. I started hunting public land in the mountains of North GA a couple of years ago in search of a new hunting experience after hunting the same small lease for almost 25 years. It totally rekindled my passion for hunting and I have had some incredible hunts and experiences in the past few years. As much as I enjoy hunting the mountains I miss hunting from an elevated position in my Summit treestand. There is just no practical way to carry a 22lb climber 1 - 2 miles in while making some of those long climbs up a ridge choked with mountain laurel.

At 55 I have joined the bad back club so I have stayed away from saddles after borrowing one from a fella a year or so ago and deciding I was not comfortable enough to sit still for an extended period. Fast forward to this week and as I was skimming this site I stumbled across the JX3 Hybrid. It looks to have all the back support an old guy could ever want, and when combined with a LW hand climber I think I will be at around 13lbs total. This looks like it will be just the ticket to get me back off of the ground way back off the beaten path. Looking forward to giving it a try next season. Thanks for the great info!

Welcome from SE Michigan! Sounds like you've got a plan. I'm eyeing the JX3 Hybrid for my daughter - she has bad knees and just wasn't as comfortable as she'd like in the saddle. Might do a DIY version even. Lots of good info on this site.

Thanks fellas. I am on the waiting list for the JX3 Hybrid and really looking forward to getting off of the ground again.

I am a full time member of the bad back club also. I am new to saddle hunting and I have done 5 sits so far this year, some as long as 4 hrs. I have a steel plate in my back with screws installed. Never dreamed I could ever hunt from a saddle and most wont believe this but it helps my back to sit in a saddle. It has helped to remove some of my PAIN. Its like traction theraphy. I killed my first ever saddle deer two wks ago. I am pumped about saddle hunting and headed to Kentucky Fri morning on a four day hunt You might be surprised what you can do. Good luck. By the way I am 63 yrs old and love not hauling a 21 lb. summit on my back.
