My saddle arrived. Can't wait for some snow to melt so I can go scouting and practicing with my saddle. I got a Tethrd Mantis with the microfit adjustors and the back sling and a predator platform. Also got Hawk Helium climbing sticks. I was in need of new hunting clothes too, and Scentlok had a sale going on so I was able to get the new clothes I needed. Not sure if the scent adsorbing thing is for real or not, but for the sale price I got them on it was hard to beat.
I can't wait for spring scouting and the first day of next deer season. I've been hunting from a crazy heavy climbing stand or a ladder stand. Lots of places I've wanted to deer hunt but couldn't get to with that kind of gear, can't wait to hit those areas with this new lightweight gear. Looking forward to learning more from the experienced saddle hunters in this forum.

Welcome from SE Wisconsin. I hunt near Ladysmith though. Welcome to the rabbit hole and money pit of saddle hunting.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes. Great to hear from so many WI hunters right off the hop. Did you all hunt with some other stand methods before turning to saddles? Have you been more successful with saddles than with other methods?

I stared with climbing tree stands. The last straw was 3 years ago, I walked in about a mile on public. I was so wore out with the stand on my back that I almost left it out there. I like to scout my way in, so using a compact saddle is much quieter and lighter. I can pop up in almost any tree if I pass hot sign.

I sometimes have to go through some thick stuff to get to where the deer are, and you didn't have to go very far to get sick of all the branches and stuff grabbing at the climbing stand on your back pulling you back from where you want to go. So when I heard of these saddles and saw some videos of how people use them I figured I had to give it a shot. I'm already thinking of what to switch my attachments for the climbing sticks to for saving weight. The straps and buckles have room for ounces to be shaved.
