Hi my name is Allan, I've been bow hunting with a compound for 13 years and 1 year with a recurve! Got my first traditional harvest this season and I've always hunted out of permanent stands. I had been planning to buy a lone wolf stand for next season but I just discovered the saddle and I think it is the way to go! I'm super pumped to learn more about it from this site! Thanks :D

Awesome. I am getting into the Traditional scene this next year. So maybe you can help me from a new guy stand point. I just got into saddle hunting this season. So hopefully I can help you from a new guy stand point.

Welcome. Good group of folks here to help you get started. Nobody is saving their secrets or telling you it's their way or the highway. Enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome! Tonight's my first night in the saddle and I'm loving it so far!! Just need a better way to climb...and a platform....and some prepped trees. ;)

Haha. Yeah. Hope you have a successful hunt. Shake a tree, Er , whatever else we should say to express good wishes.
I like different platforms in different situations. Same for climbing methods. Try em all

I thought I needed prepped trees. The season opens Saturday and I've prepped a grand total of 3 trees with steps.

I'm not sure if the juice will be worth the squeeze once you get proficient with climbing sticks. I'm up in about 10 min with sticks and have silenced them as best I can. The 90 minutes and $20 per tree for setup may not be worth it IMHO.

I have tried basically every climbing method out there. NOTHING beats pre-prepped trees. So if that is an option and you can make it happen, I recommend it.

Right now I'm solely using the one stick method and using the stick as my platform. I'm a little behind the 8ball for this season but I'll make do with what I have, next year I'll be using a platform and Spurs. So far I'm loving this!! Glad I found the site!
