Another new guy. I really started getting into hunting public land this year. I had a blast with it, but quickly realized I didn't like packing my extremely heavy API self climber. On private land I mostly use lock on, but when I started researching lighter set ups it lead me the the saddle world. I have been youtubing and reading for a few months now and plan on piecing my gear together after the new year. Hopefully I will have the whole off season to practice. Really leaning toward the Mantis and XOP sticks... Thanks to everyone that has done so much work to make it easy for us new guys to start figuring this out, and I look forward to the journey.

Welcome from Northern VA, you won't regret your decision! Check out the newbie info/advice if you haven't already the glossary in the new saddle hunter section and be sure to get a lot of practice before the season starts, practice every shot that you can think of, trust me, I thought I practiced every shot and still managed to find out on the opening day of the season that I wasn't ready, lol.

Welcome, from Michigan! You have an absolutely beautiful state!

Welcome! I’m from Beckley!

Speaking of Beckley, I recently had the good fortune of breaking down on the highway just outside of Beckley. (the outside of Beckley thing was the good fortune, not my truck's engine blowing up on the highway). The people of Beckley were remarkably kind, from the tow truck company, the Uber driver, the desk clerk, on and on. Awesome experience (again, apart from the truck blowing up part.)

The rental car drive out of Beckley down that curvy mountain road, with the roadside waterfalls and vertical stone faces, over the river and through the woods....absolutely breath taking! I am looking forward to returning with my wife to really get a look around!

Again, welcome!

Welcome from Massachusetts.
I lived in that beautiful state for three years because of my job. I lived in Hurricane. Loved it there.

Where abouts?? Gotta be close to me I’m in Beckley

We do have a lot of beauty around. If you ever venture to these parts, let me know. I can help show you some of our sites. The New River Gorge Bridge is a huge attraction in this area and only about 20 minutes from my house.
