I had my eye on that one also!

It was a toss up and came down partly to barrel length (24.3 inch on the tikka) but the tikka is 0.3 lbs heavier

I don’t find savages ugly and like your stock better? ….is that after market because the ones online are all black

These matte plastic stocks scratch so easy (like your fingernail permanently alters it) that some pattern will make it look cooler for longer
I painted that one, it was black

Not enough experience to give an opinion. sorry. However if you intend to hunt out of state, some states limit you to a straightwall cartridge. If you like low recoil and may hunt 1 of those states, consider 350 Legend. We have 2 and we love them.

I completely agree with all of you who say the creed is powerful enough to kill a deer out to normal shooting ranges. I also believe it’s the match grade bullets that cause the loss of an animal. I believe the problem is the fact that most big box stores, in my area at least, only sell match grade bullets. Most guys buying bullets don’t understand what a match grade bullet is. I’m not saying the creed is a bad round. It just seems funny to me that every time you bring up the creed to an outfitter they hate for their clients to use them. The main reason I’m not a fan of the Creed is the way it jumps instead of kicks when I shoot, and the fact I hate short action rifles. Hell my 243 is built on a long action, just because I never have liked racking a short action. I know I’m weird, but that’s me.

I feel like there are a lot of options in the 260/.25/6.5CM range. .257Bob, 6.5x55, .25-06, 6.5 Arisaka, .260Rem, 6.5CM, 250 Savage, the Weatherbys, the Winchester and Remington magnums, 6.5 Grendel("Sporter"), the MDWS AR wildcats, Kurt Bellm's excellent single-shot wildcats necked-down from 7.62x54 or .444 brass, etc., etc. Part of me wants a 6.5CM just to see what the fuss is all about. Part of me wants a .257 Roberts in a classic wood-stock rifle, and because it's not a 6.5Manbun. Part of me wants to pull something at random from the PT&G die & reamer catalogue and have something completely unique. Yes, the 6.5 is a lot easier out of the box, and is capable of amazing things... but if you want to level up from Level 3 Gun Nut to Level 4 Firearms Enthusiast, you'll have to start down some of the rabbit holes...

Sorry I missed this post earlier…you’re right about that. I’ve been down the wildcat rabbit hole many times :D The funny thing is, after spending a ridiculous amount of time and money on them I’ve largely come full circle to appreciating the simplicity of standardized cartridges. Especially so with the newer offerings from Hornady. IMO they really understand modern cartridge design. I still load for a few wildcats, especially where there really isn’t a suitable factory offering but the days of doing just because stuff are slowing down.

I will not argue that point, but to clarify the point of lost deer with 6.5CM. Almost all of that stat is a result of improper bullet selection. If people would stop hunting with match bullets because they have them and are accurate. With a hunting bullet the result of 6.5CM is identical to 7-08, 260, 6.5x55 and many other mid size deer killing calibers. But in all honesty, many 6.5 hunters tend to try to shoot further than they should. It’s not a long range deer killer at all, but under 400 yards it’s lights out
Improper bullet selection and let's face it 6.5 CM whitetail hunters at a guide service are going to be skewed towards less experienced hunters. I have 30/30's 30-06's, 308's, 243's' 12 ga, 20 ga, 300 weatherby mag and 6.5 cm for WTD and I like the 6.5 cm the best.

I always wanted a 260 rem but with better ammo and rifle options.....basically what the 6,5 cm is.....

you'd like tikka then....everything is the same long action as a way to keep costs down

i was a bit surprised how much the 6.5 cm kick in a light rifle/scope combo (whole thing is under 7 pounds)

i sprained my shoulder cutting shooting lanes and so bought and wore a caldwell recoil guard just in case.....i think it helped my shooting and i'll use one from now on even on lighter kicking rounds at the range....i shoot much better when the recoil is very light....some folks shoot 22 lr and elephant guns the same but i'm not there yet

I think a big part of the 6.5 cm for me is recoil based. I don't have a big eversion to recoil, as I prefer 3.5" turkey loads, I'm just more accurate with less recoil and 6.5 is plenty big enough for deer.

really squeezing slowly for a surprise shot is almost creepy to me....it's like i'm in a dark room and someone is going to punch me and i don't know when....one reason why i like bows more

what paint type? dripped it like jackson pollock? it looks good and i might try

did you remove stock first?
Yes removed the stock and butt pad. Used silver and black marbling paint. It’s kinda like painting with silly string. Then after it’s dry, I use matte clear to seal it

yeah.....not wanting to risk a stock removal.....might open up to 0.5 moa :)

I started shooting a 12ga and a 30-06 when I was 10. I like the kick! I don’t even feel it when I’m laid out prone with a Muley in the cross hairs. That’s the only animal I hunt with a gun.

Yeah i was kinda halfassed tracking thay discussion a few years back. That and IIRC the 6.5 Lapua? 6.5x47? Idk... stillngot an itch for a 6.5CM but realistically I don't have any nearby ranges where I can shoot past 200yd. And, I already load 7mm-08 and 7x57 and 7mmRM so I keep a variety of those projectiles on hand. And 6mm for .243 and 6x45. If i ever get one it will be a toss up when and where barrel and dies and spare cash align.
