Hey folks,
First, thanks to all the members here and the awesome knowledge you all share. I am new to this style hunting and I am planning to rappel down and probably one stick/srt up mostly. I am trying to find out some different options to put on my eye splice on the load end of my rappel line to keep from having to feed the rope through every time. From reading, it seems like carabiners are not ideal for this. Are certain styles acceptable and maintain rating or is a delta link type my only option. I am worried about a steel type delta picking my rope when I put it in and out. Working with an 11.3 mm Yale poison ivy rope. Thanks for any help.

I'd stay away from any carabiner cross loading. I can't imagine that a link would do any harm to that PI rope. I'm using it for climbing at my work and that stuff is tough as nails.

A good source for oval links is Treestuff or Wesspur.
Madrock makes a carabiner called Gemini that says it stops cross loading kind of a double gate was thinking about trying one. Not sure if it is safe for that use
