Get on here or archery talk and find someone who wanted to make adult arrows and cut some 250 spine to 26.3468286” and realized they sucked for their bow. No one wants to pay them close to full price so you can likely get em for half to third of cost new. You’ll have to choose to refletch or reinsert. But you’ll come out ahead one way or another.

Pick a flavor. The mini doesn’t care. That’s the point of it! Square both ends and get to shootin
 
FWIW, I tried the red dot and it cost me a nice buck this fall.

Nothing wrong with it from an accuracy standpoint, but the limb being in the sight picture robbed me of shooting light late in the evening, so I switched back to a better scope than the one it comes with. I get at least 10-15 more minutes to shoot that way.

The Crimson Trace I used is in the classified for what I paid if anyone is looking for one to try on the cheap.

Same here. Planning on putting the stock scope back on next season, or if I can afford it, a hawke, etc.

I find it's not necessarily the light transmission limits of the red dot, it's the blocked sight picture. Much better to see the whole critter.

What scope did you use?
 
I had a Simmons Prostaff 1x5 laying around and put it on. At 4 or 5x, the focal point is beyond the limb so you don’t see it in the scope. I can still see it if I turn it down lower though.

I bought one last spring for my son ...I had it shooting great with field points...switched to broadheads and after 25 yds they plane right,I've tried muzzy 125 gr 3 blade,swackers and rage...so I'm assuming I need to micro adjust the rest and stop when field points and broadheads meet in the middle?I'm more of a longbow and old mathews switchback guy haven't dealt with the crossbow thing yet.

you might want to try sighting in at 40 yds then seeing where you are hitting first. i did have to tweak my arrow res a litttle.
what arrows / poundage are you shooting?

It's dialed in to 40 with field points with any broadhead it planes after about 25 or 30 yards by about 8 inches....I got dca 300 spine with 50 gr inserts
 
Due to some medical issues, I was forced to get a crossbow to hunt this year (if I am able to make it out at all). I chose the HC Mini based on all the feedback here. I did a short search for a used one, but ended up ordering one new. It arrived and I love it, but....

After about 25 shots total, over 2 shooting sessions, the trigger mechanism seems to have locked up. It won't reset the release hook and just feels bound up. I can play with it some and get it to release, but it then locks right back up. I called Jerry and he told me to just put a little gun oil between the dry fire and release hook and that would take care of it. I did that and it kind of loosened a little, but there is still this binding feeling from the trigger all the way back to the release hook. I didn't get a chance to really play with it as I was heading out of town.

I read all 75 pages of this thread looking for any related issues, but didn't really read anything like this. I saw where a couple people had sent theirs back for a trigger replacement, but that was it.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? Do you all lubricate the trigger mechanism from end to end somehow?

Had that prob!em, sent it back to be fixed. Actually had it fire when I released the safety. Felt like it should be right 100% from the manufacturer. That's the way it should be received by the customer. Worked fine after I got it back

Thanks for this. I agree that it should be right, but reading all the quirks of the thing in this thread, I didn't know if it was just another one of those "things" about owning one.

If you dont mind fiddling with the screws and bolts and internals of that trigger mechanism you can get it adjusted. This happened to me 4 years ago as well when I first got it. can't remember exactly what I did but one of the threaded rods had just backed itself out too far and had locked up the mechanism. once I got it adjusted correctly I put some lock tite on it and it's been perfect for the last 4 years.

Thanks for the replies. Just saw that the video on FB was posted 2 days ago and that was the day that I called him about mine. He didn't tell me about the file option, just the gun oil. I will give this a try when I get back in town and can mess with it. If that doesn't work, I will give him a call back to get next steps.

I do love shooting this thing and am really hoping it all works out so I can hunt with it this season.

I’d like to thank you personally, I’ve had my Hickory for 3 years and was tuning a new arrow build yesterday and this same thing happened to mine. Watched the video and an easy fix. Saved me time trying to figure out what was going on. Easy fix in a few minutes and I was shooting again.
