Shot my buck in this thread almost exactly the way you describe. I’ve got an old Bushnell red dot on my mini. Works perfect for this setup. Thinking of upgrading next yr to one with better battery life. Possibly a solar powered red dot.
I really like the idea of a red dot. No worrying about eye relief. Could shoot in all kinds of weird positions and angles.
I am picturing a deer coming in at your 3:00 and instead of turning, you could hold the pistol grip in your right hand as normal, but instead of shouldering the Mini, you hold the end of the stock with your left hand.
Try it sometime, you could def make a quick shot this way... But it wouldn't work with a scope.
So don't tell nobody, but @kyler1945 has preached and argued and fearmongered at me enough that I'm eyeballing some 200 grain inserts and 3 blade, solid, cut-on-contact broadheads next year. Ain't paying no Iron Will prices though so I found these gems on ebay:
6PCS Archery Broadheads 100 Grain Stainless Steel 3-Blade Integral Forming Tip | eBay

Hot diggity! I can hear the howls of rage from the purists now. I may bedazzle my saddle so I can sit in the sissy-sling and shoot spikes with my crossgun to maximum effect.

Not needed! The ol Mini blows through a big Midwestern whitetail at 45 yds. unless you're trying a side by side double...So don't tell nobody, but @kyler1945 has preached and argued and fearmongered at me enough that I'm eyeballing some 200 grain inserts and 3 blade, solid, cut-on-contact broadheads next year. I shot mine on Saturday. He shot his Monday morning. He always said crossbows were cheating and shouldn't be allowed. Then he shot my mini this summer and ordered one the next day.
Today he shot his personal best buck, on his birthday, and I had the day off to help him recover it.
It would be relatively simple i think to attach a rail to the front handle. TBH I considered it before I was gifted a red dot. 4 dead critters and no complaints with itThere's a lot of chatter about scopes and red dots on here. Seems like most people consider this mainly a +/-30 yard weapon for hunting...
That said, has anyone explored just mounting a single pin bow sight housing on the rail?
That way you're not dealing with foggy scopes, malfunctioning electronics, etc. Doesn't seem to be a lot of options out there, but it does seem like having the right picatinny mount + some careful drilling and tapping would make it possible.
I did see this, but it's little pricey for experimentation:
Thoughts?
It might be torquing, put a nut on that threaded portion sticking down into the stirrup. If you can grab the front handle and the rear and move the two in opposite directions it'll throw it off a bunch. So to preface, I love my HC Mini. It’s so fun to shoot and will soon get to draw it’s first blood if opportunity arises. But I did have two crazy things happen at the range yesterday.
First, my stirrup pulled out while cocking. Anyone have that happen before?

I was able to take off the knob, bend it back and re-install. The screw had backed out on its own enough when pressure was applied, it let go. Prospective fix - apply some threadlocker blue to the hex set screws.
Second, after throwing darts for a while, it started shooting really bad. I was off in several directions. My scope has a turret you can adjust and I had been testing different ranges. Wondering if it is the scope or something physical on the bow? I took off the turret and reset it. It could have been loose. That wouldn’t really explain being off right though. Any other things to look for?
Thanks!
