Im looking to buy a pair of hip boots this year, and that being said i would like to not have to buy another pair next year. Ive been doing some research and it seems there are some very good chaps out there, dans, yoder, and such, but my question is the boots. Is there a boot that will last over a season or two that wont crack? They all seem to be matching these great chaps to the same old Chinese manufactured junk. Anyone thats has over four years use please let me know what you are using. Thank you in advance!

I have a pair of lacr
that totally answered my question. thanks
i have a pair of lacrosse grange boots that are 15 years old, but my muck boots only last about 2 seasons, because of the walking I do. Rubber tends to crack the more walking you do. The boots tend to crack before the soles wear out.

Lacrosse is pure junk IMO, anymore. I had a pair that lasted 10 years, with hard use. But now, I went through 3 pair in 3 years. I still have a pair of hip boots for hunting but they get used very lightly, so i can't gage their quality, but don't expect much at this point.
So although I cant recommend anything, I can recommend you don't buy lacrosse's Chinese junk

This is what I’m talking about... I had a pair of lacrosse for forever is seems and now just as you said I’ve gone through multiple pairs.... I’m so sick of buying boots. I guess most people haven’t owned good boots before so they don’t know what they are missing??

If you check out John eberharts YouTube channel, he’s got a couple videos and goes extensively into boots and what to look for and some good brands. Ones I’ve never heard of. He might touch on hip waders too I don’t remember.

I get the cheap academy brand and they last 2-3 years ....I use them constantly throughout the year...not just hunting season..I used to try to maintain them with armor all but I didn't see were that helped them live longer....they end up leaking at the rubber fold over points....I found if u hang them with news paper stuffed inside to keep them expanded they last longer....but that's a pain so I don't hardly ever do it.....my pair lives in my truck and gets abused pretty hard and replace when necessary from the store up the road

Hopefully you have better luck than I do... I just watched a eiberhart video where he’s reviewed a gumleaf boot. Says they are 80% rubber. Price is like 250 but says they don’t use all the fillers the Chinese use. I’m gonna try them... I wonder if I can have a chap put on them...

I've been wanting a pair of Dans 5 Star frog legs for a few years now. Have heard nothing but good things about them.

I finally put a good hole in my cheap PVC frog toggs after 2 years of light whitetail use and pretty serious trout stream use. I didn't expect them to last forever so am not too upset with the performance after 2 years for a $60 pair of hip boots.

If you want, Dans will put their chaps on boots you provide. But you need to call them so they can be sure the boot you provide will be able to have the chaps installed.

I love my dans froggers. I keep two pairs. Always put them on boot dryers after each use. I think that helps.

One area I hunt, I almost always have to extend the chaps to cross stream / swamp muck to get to where I am going. They are way better than trying to carry extra hip boots.

None of the boots they list are warm enough for us up here. I need a full on winter boot + hip wader!

So you called the company and they would not install chaps on a pair of boots for you? What boots were you looking at using for cold weather?

I was going to have them add chaps to alphaburly’s, but decided against it for now. I find my feet sweat too much in rubber boots during the hike in. I end up bringing a second pair of socks, change at the tree, and make do. I am toying with the idea of bringing light loose sneakers for use at the tree, but never got to the point of doing that yet.

No I did not call them. I only looked at what they offered on the website.

for me one of the heavier insulated alphaburly's would be fine for the weather I hunt in.

use the lighter boots and use the boot covers when on stand, eliminates alot of excess sweating on the way in
