History of your setups

1991: started hunting in FL with my dad as a 10 year old kid. We used ladder stands and box blinds.

Mid 1990s-2001: ladder stands, lock on stands, box blinds, and climbers.

2001-2004: I went to college in VA and hunted exclusively from an API Grand Slam my uncle gave me.

2004-2009: back to FL after college and started using ladders, lockons, and climbers again.

2009: Joined the Army and needed something more mobile. Found the trophyline tree saddle (neoprene).

2009-2014: Alternated between the trophyline and API Grand Slam. I was never 100% comfortable in the TL.

2014-2018: helped pioneer the ultralight Sitdrag option. I LOVED my SD.

2018: The Mantis. I believe it's the most versatile, ultralight saddle ever created.

2015-2017
started deer hunting from the ground with a shotgun.
Summer 2016
Bought a compound bow and started practicing before hunting with it. Tried a couple ladderstands that my friends had put up on their land, never really liked any of them.
2017-current
Began hunting exclusively with my bow. Same stands, but another friend allowed me the use of his lock on stand. I shot and recovered my first whitetail deer from that stand. Forever grateful to he and his father for the opportunity. A Few weeks later, an uncle of mine let me borrow a TL saddle, and I fell in love with the concept. Practiced a few times and hunted out of the saddle twice. I ordered a new kestrel, various kit components, WE stepps, and started practicing safe climbing.
This summer I have been practicing my climbing and bow shooting from hunting height. 90% dialed in, with just a few key elements still in development stages. Mainly organization once in the tree.
Can’t wait for Oct. 1

2010: started with a API Grand Slam. Then another API climber. Picked up random ladder and lockon stands along the way too.

2015: Hawk Helium lockon and Muddy Pros, climber, ladder.

2016: First hunts from the Sit Drag. But mainly climber and lockon.

2017: Exclusively saddle. Sit Drag and Guido's Web.

Five years of ladder stands and old school hang on. Only really hunted on small private property.
Last year borrowed a buddy's API climber, used that until mid November, then went ground after that. Started hunting public last year for the first time.
For this year I have built my first sling/saddle and rc harness, and am leaning towards wild edge stepps, if not just Sam's Stealth Climb method. Will mix this with ground sits.
