Horns first buck

Tell us about the hit? Did u look around inside and see what the arrow did? We are looking at the exit in the pic? U said 1/4 away?
No, I'm pretty careful about gutting but not much for investigation. We can be sure of at least one good lung hit. I'll double check the heart but pretty sure I missed. Diaphragm for sure. Stomach, most definitely! Gross. Liver? I dunno which side is it on again? Missed the intestines as far as i know, that's a plus.

The shot. Being the expert eye witness I am it was definitely quarter away. Except those holes tell me/us otherwise. The shoulder is 100% the entrance regardless of weather I know what 1/4 to and away mean. I'm pretty sure I was just wrong about the body position. He pretty much stood there and took it like a spike headed champ, tiny pause if any, and casual trot away. Exit rear ham.

I'm pretty confident I'll put the arrow where I want it if I shoot, I'm human and things happen but I'm not taking the shot the other way around. I know people do, cool with me. I'm not there yet. I still swear it was quarter away but I'm wrong.

Great story, great hunt, nice Michigan “11” pointer!!!!
@boyne bowhunter , this contest is exactly like golf right? My competitor gave me a gimme putt and it stands no matter how ridiculous, right?? :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:

You, @woodsdog2 , are one super guy! Team 7 thanks you for the 9 pt increase!

Please score that as 13 Mr Boyne Bowhunter sir

:tearsofjoy: see rule: spike- ain't-happening-nice-try in the official rules

I'm not alluding to u being a bad shot at all....what I'm alluding to is u can learn a lot if u make it a point to look at that kinda stuff
I didn't take it that way at all

Congrats man, great ending to a suspenseful hunt. What broadhead were you using?
Grim reaper micro hades pro 4 blade in 125gr.

Pretty sure @DroptineKrazy hit the nail on the head. The holes were kinda high and pretty much level on the animal. No drain hole. It was totally full of grainy dark red liquid, even had started bubbling out of the entrance hole at the 3 hour mark when I found it

Also 2 minor corrections. Only 1 open wound on 1 hand.

Also headed back in @ 2 hours- 9:15 and found it at 10:15.

At the road at 11:30 if any one is interested

Look back on your story in a month, and a year. It will be fun to relive it. And also to see how much your memory likes to play tricks on you with reality.

Hell I’d forget half the deer I’ve killed if I didn’t write it down and take pictures.

Keep doing that!

I've killed a lot of those "11 pointers" myself over the years. :tearsofjoy:

It's kinda hard to miss the liver at the angle your arrow went through the deer, not impossible but not likely IMO. This picture shows pretty good how the liver lays behind the lungs, shots that quarter through the lungs and guts almost always include liverdeer-vitals-cutaway-qdma-760x646.jpg
