Hot hot should it get?

So I use an ATC for rappelling, 8 mm resctech. I’m tending a prussik or schwabish below it used for my brake and hands free. I don’t feel like I’m going real fast and I stop to get platform at about waist high, Then stick, then to the ground. Anyway my ATC gets pretty warm and I’m wondering how hot it should get. Could I not go over the side of a cliff using this same method? At my highest sit, my feet might be at 25’. I’d like to think 100’ would be just as safe using my same resctech and ATC rappel setup…….how hot would it get going nonstop for 100’+ Steady descent?

Found that which might be helpful.

Looks like the black diamond tops out at 135 for average use, so hot but not catastrophically so.

Thanks for that! I really like the simplicity of the ATC even though I use a prussik or schwabish to tend it. Mine just gets really warm to almost hot and I’ll have to remember that when it’s really cold out!
