I'm going to modify a set of Heliums and I'm 6-5. What distance did you space your steps when you did yours ?
Thanks

I have not modified, but I'm 5'11" and use beast sticks which are 22 inches apart. It is a bit difficult when I've got heavy clothes on. I'd guess most do between 18 and 22 inches. 20 is probably the sweet spot. But everything depends on your height / reach.

Usually bottom of foot to top of knee is a safe bet. I use an aider and I’m about to try naider and swaider. So I’d guess chin or forehead for that.

I'm 6 ft but when I used xop sticks I routinely skipped the middle step and went the full 30 inches from bottom to top step. Wasn't to bad, especially early in the season. On hawk heliums I modified them to 20" and now I have some 22" inch beast sticks and I like them the best right now.
