How important ?

Thigh level, never used em.

I do use the ones at waist level for rope and aider storage though, have a pair of reasonably sized dump bags attached.
 
I seen one video where they used them with paracord for climbing sticks as they climbed.

Anywho, they sent me a return label for the fix...great customer service.
