How long have you been hunting out of a saddle?

Don't recall the exact year it was the late 80,s. Got an Anderson tree sling and a woodpecker drill thought I was a king lol. Later purchased a TL, still have a couple of those around my son still won't give his up. I killed deer out of the areo Hunter, bought just the seat for the Evo, and now am really looking forward to trying to kill out of the Kestrel. You guys have really brought these saddles along way. I've tried other stands over the years they have come an gone seems my hind end always ended back in a saddle. Really enjoy reading this sight also. Now that you taught me to post pics. I have to work on getting my post up so I can get in your contest good Lord willing.

Been about 30 years as best as I can recollect. I also tend to hunt from minimalist ground blinds in a turkey chair. Also floating small streams in a canoe, which might be my favorite.

I've had a TL for about 10 years but I don't hunt exclusively out of saddle but would like to start keeps spots fresh and can have many trees set up.Seen the only booner I've ever seen in woods while hunting out of my TL.(50 yards away in brush I had a bow he laid down and the doe with him watched my way the whole time so I couldn't get down to stalk in closer he laid there for a hour and forty minutes)

This will be year two for me... I still use stands from time to time but the majority of the time I use my saddle...

30+ , I usually climb to the first good cover and brush in a little so that I can fidget when needed. 15 feet for my final steps is a good average.

I've been hunting out of a saddle for 9 years. I hunt in urban areas year round to reduce the overpopulation of deer and have hundreds and hundreds of different trees to climb. I harvest anywhere from 20-60 deer a year, and have no clue how many I've shot in the last 9 years.

Hunting from a saddle is the only way to make it possible.

I started in the early 80's with the Anderson tree sling but lost interest and stopped. I started again 3 years ago and use it exclusively.

Since 2007, about 1 deer a year and about 50/50 bow to gun. Some years I'd skip deer season because I had a freeze full of moose, caribou and/or salmon. If fall fire season went too long that's when I'd skip the bow and go straight to gun.

Wow So do you eat them all. I will be blessed to get one or two.

No way! I am able to donate deer here to a program that feeds the homeless and less fortunate. I donate a TON of deer to them anualy. I mostly keep 2-3 in my freezer for my family and I to live off of.
Wow good for you sounds like fun and a good thing to do. I have never seen that many deer in a season

It will be my first time when i get it in begining of january. I cant wait and i hope its better than how bad stands hurt my back over time but i have heard that saddles are alot better on back for long sits

Actually around the mid 80's TSS had a harness style set up I used a few years off and on but was very uncomfortable on the family jewels, and all I knew was to stand on tree limbs. Around 2002 I purchased a treesuit, then the assassin platform after that and all was good.

This is my 2nd season in the saddle. I have yet to draw down on a critter from it though I did have 2 close encounters. 2016 couldn't get a beautiful 8 pointer to stop as he was nose-to-ground after does.

This year in my 2nd sit in the kestrel I had a doe come in and bed 32 yards from my tree. Little beyond my recurve range and she was in some thick stuff.

We aren't blessed with a huge deet population in central MA so even sighting from a saddle are a win in my book.
