How long of a tether/LB?

What is everyone's preferred length on tethers and lineman belts. I was able to scrounge 16ft of sterling HTP, going to try and come up with more if necessary, but would use what I have for now. I intend on getting a Ropeman for the LB, but the tether I will run a prusik or similar until I gain confidence and experience. (if you have any extra accessory cord for prusiks you could part with shoot me a PM) So given 16ft of rope, what lengths would you look at making?

Thanks,

Mike

You can make that work for a LB and Tether. If you chopped your rope in half, they'll be on the short side - probably 6-7 foot each. As long as you don't hunt huge trees, you should be OK.

7-9' is a pretty common tether/LB length.

7 foot is the usable length of my tether and lineman's belt. Tying knots eats up a lot of rope though, I think you can probably only get 1 decent length out of that rope. I would tie one up before I cut it and see how much rope you actually have left to work with.

Reds right a figure 8 and a stopper knot will eat up rope.

Yeah I was starting to see that last night. I tied a figure 8 on a bight, and a stopper knot and basically only had about 6 feet left over for a LB. Tying the knots on the Lb doesn't leave enough usable line.
