3 with CAYG aider. That gets me to 20 feet comfortably on a straightforward tree. If (rarely) I feel I should be higher or the tree is too sketchy to aider climb I one-stick with stick #2 or 3.

Just got sticks, but 4 seems to be the sweet spot for me, me being both vertically challenged (can't space sticks out as far) and of higher center of gravity (doesn't work well with really long aiders).

4 sticks here. DIY 24” using @DanO components. Stack nicely on each side of the Eberlestock X2. I keep 24” climbing runners as aiders in my pack in case I need to get higher.

4 because when I had three I wanted more.....yes if you are wondering I am building a 5th. It will likely just replace my bottom stick though.

3 diy double step sticks with a CAYG aider

Currently 5 lone wolf sticks, but I’m to change that to 5 beast sticks with an aider.

3 or 4 with a CAYG aider. My sticks are only 20” long.

I have 4 but depending on where I am going I will take 2-4. Some areas I hunt are early growth and don’t have trees more that 8-12 in diameter. 2-3 sticks will get me as far as I can go. If hunting in hill county (which is rare), I’ll take a single step movable aider just in case I need to get a little higher (but that is also rare).

3 and a single aider. I’d like to see your 5 step aiders that you’re all using.
