I'm sure this has been answered to death in various comment threads, but I can't find the info I'm looking for. I want to try out a daisy chain to attach my Ridge Runner platform-- how much 1/8 amsteel should I use to make an 8 or 9 foot daisy chain with 2" loops? (I want it extra long so I can use a trucker's hitch.) Is there a formula or percantage I could use to figure it out, or anybody have experience and just know off the top of their head?

As long as we're at it, anybody who has similar answers for 1/4, 3/16, or 7/64 feel free to chime in. That way folks can easily find the info later on. Thanks!

i made 12 daisy chains last year out of 7/64 amsteel

the loops were 4" and i used normal, double locking brummels

to make 8 foot daisy chains, i used 18 feet

i always had around 6 inches of both strands left over that i wasted, but i was fine with that....so i wasted a total of 12 inches per chain, if you add the two 6 inches pieces together

I’ve made quite a few out of 7/64 with 2” loops. I always started with a 15 ft piece and it would normally end up between 6 1/2 and 7 feet.

i think when doing the conversion, you wouldn't add 2 feet (15 vs 6.5 x 2) but go by proportions and multiply.....15/6.5 x

Agreed— the diy Bullman Minimalist Pioneer Steps kit comes with 16’ lengths of 7/64, with the intent of making 7’ daisies with 2” loops. The loops don’t start for the first 10-12”. Thanks for reminding me.
