How much does this bear weigh?

I don't think that bear is 900 pounds but you guys saying it is under 200 are way off. I've shot a 172 pound bear and that thing is much bigger. I really thing its in the neighborhood of 300.

I'm not a very seasoned bear guy, but I 100% agree. Look at the size of the head in relation to the tree, it's got a decent sized dome. Tough to get a good body view but it ain't no skin and bones nursing female. Now that's live weight, take out the guts and I can see mid to upper 100's.

The reporting news station has since fixed their hilarious blunder (or typo)...

Missed opportunity in the last paragraph:

"The driver was not injured and her vehicle was bearly damaged."

I thought the head looked small and undeveloped and the ears look huge in relation to the head which is generally the sign of a young bear. Cant see enough of the tree to really determine how big it is and the body position of the bear is really bad for judging. Head and ears is why I went way low, it might make a 100 but he might need a couple more donuts to get there. Really think he is easily under it. Would be interesting to get updated info with a more accurate assessment from maybe the local GW.

LOL and while I was typing, there it is. I'll say I missed that one. Thought he for sure would need a roll of quarters shoved in each ear to even sort get him to 100.

She's lucky the car only had minor damage. I hit one back around 90-91 and did $7500 worth to my truck and had to have it towed back home. But mine was on an empty hwy at 4 in the morning going through a national wildlife refuge not in town. Killed the hail out of my truck, we never did find the bear.

I wasn’t looking this up, just happened to see it on Facebook since it’s not that far from me. Has a little more credibility.

I'm not sure why, but apparently we grow some of the biggest black bears in the country here. I've seen a couple boars that I know are every bit of 350 or 400. A handful 500-600+ are killed each year, I can't even fathom what they look like in person. Dumps like a truck, they gotta be a wide load cause I'm pretty sure once they get to a certain point the only way to grow is out. That's elk mass on a bear frame!

We get the occasional one over 600 but 500 is a big bear down here. I have only seen 2 that I thought would have topped 5 out of the hundred or so I have seen while hunting. Those are giants on that list.

We have a lot of giants around here too.
Both within 10 miles of me. The first year I started hunting north jersey I saw 29 bears during October while deer hunting. The population isn't that high anymore cause of the 10 years of hunting they allowed but with the limitations they put on it the past few years I'm starting to see more and more bears again. Without a hunt now I'm sure it's only a matter of time until someone gets killed again.
